The Crime Of Uniform Crime - 1427 Words

Uniform Crime Report for 2014 states that there are four offenses in the Violent Crime category, they include Murder, Forcible Rape, Robbery and Aggravated Assault. They only collect their data from Law Enforcement Agencies from their arrest reports. According to The Uniform Crime Report, Property Crime includes these four offenses, Burglary, Larceny/ Theft, Motor Vehicle Theft and Arson. The Uniform Crime Report reported that there were 402,470 violent crime arrests in 2014 compared to 1,275,315 property crime arrests. The National Crime Victimization Survey reported that in 2014 there were 5,359,570 victims of violent crime, and 15,288,470 victims of property crime. The National Crime Victimization Survey only collects their data of nonfatal, not reported to police and crimes reported to police against persons 12 or older. Prevalence of crime is different than victimization because one person could be a victim of an assault on two different occasions and they would be counted as a victim twice yet only be considered once for the thought of prevalence. At a rate of about 20 per a thousand people, individuals had become victims to violent crime in 2014. The prevalence of violent crime in 2014 was around 4 million people victimized at least once, yet there were around 10 million households that had become a victim of a property crime in 2014.
